Perkin Elmer DSC*

  • Freezing/Melting Point
  • Onset T
  • Glass Transition (Tg)
  • Heat Capacity
  • Enthalpy
  • Curing
  • Reaction Kinetics
  • Temperature Stability

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) is an excellent tool, and the workhorse of the thermal suite. With a DSC test, most of the thermal based properties of a material can be tested and analyzed, and the versatility and range of testing temperatures ensures that a property can be found for almost all materials. A DSC can test polymers, biologic, fluids, and metals samples. This unit meets the testing needs of the food and drug industry, metals and plastics manufacturers, and all research industries.

Perkin Elmer TGA*

  • Weight Loss
  • Oxidation/Reduction
  • Kinetics
  • Combustion
  • Thermal Stability

Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) is a powerful measuring tool for temperature based weight changes. A TGA’s range allows samples of high volatility to high melting point metals to be tested with ease. With this tool, EA Labs is able to test for water loss in biologic samples, oxidation/reduction of metals or metal powders, and combustion of all organic samples. A TGA is commonly need in the manufacturing, food, and pharmaceutical industries.

Perkin Elmer DMA*

Available Options: 3-Point Bending, Dual Cantilever

  • Modulus
  • Stress/Strain
  • Eigendorf
  • Creep Recovery
  • Viscocity
  • Class Transition (Tg)

Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) and Thermomechanical Analysis (TMA) are perfect for determining the effect of temperature on a materials physical properties, such as the Modulus of Elasticity or Creep. EA Labs’ DMA also doubles as a TMA. The difference between the two operating modes is in the forces applied to the sample. In a TMA, the force is constant and unchanging while the temperature changes. In a DMA, forces can be applied directly to the sample such as a constant compression of the piston rod or an oscillating force during temperature ramps. These forces allow for the determination of a variety of thermomechanical properties. DMA and TMA testing is useful for the manufacturing industry.

General Pricing Information

The following pricing represents a generic cost schedule for all testing.  Actual pricing may vary.  Please request a quote for actual costs.

General Base Cost Schedule:
Single <10 10 – 50 50+
DSC $100 +$30/sample +$25/sample +$20/sample
TGA $75 +$20/sample +$15/sample +$10/sample
DMA/TMA $125 +$40/sample +$35/sample +$30/sample
DTA* $100 +$30/sample +$25/sample +$20/sample
Bulk testing is based on all samples being of the same sample material operated under the same conditions.

All testing is based on the following equipment set-up:

T range (oC) T Rate (oC/min) Purge Gas PG Rate (mL/min) Device Calibration**
DSC -30 to 600 20 Air 20 +$75
TGA 50 to 1,200 20 Air 20 +$50
DMA/TMA 30 – 250 10 Air 10 3-Point Bend +$100
DTA* 250 to 1,500 20 Air 20 +$75

*DTA testing requires longer lead times due to limited availability.

** Cost of calibration for alterations from the listed specifications.
