The biggest player in our industry: TA Instruments
TA Instruments is owned by Waters Corporation, and manufactures only Thermal Analysis and Rheology testing equipment. TA is an ISO 9001:2015 certified company for the production, design, installation, and in-house calibration of Differential Scanning Calorimeters, Thermogravimetric Analyzers, Dynamic Mechanical Analyzers, and Rheology test equipment. TA Instruments, per their own documentation, is not an ISO 17034:2016 Reference Material Producer for Thermal Analysis Calibration Standards. They are currently on their Discovery Series model.
PerkinElmer, a major manufacturer in many industries
PerkinElmer is a major producer of Thermal Analysis equipment in the United States of America, and also produces and sells equipment for other major testing needs such as Gas Chromatography, Liquid Chromatography, FT-IR, and others. EA Labs uses their 7-Series equipment. Their current model line is called the Diamond Series. PerkinElmer’s website states that they have a variety of ISO certifications for many aspects of their production lines. Perkin Elmer is not an ISO 17034:2016 Reference Material Producer for Thermal Analysis Calibration Standards.
Hitachi, a major manufacturer in many industries
Hitachi High-Tech America is a major producer of many types of equipment including Thermal Analyzers. According to their website, they hold an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation for multiple testing devices. Hitachi’s current thermal analysis equipment series is called NEXTA. Hitachi is not an ISO 17034:2016 Reference Material Producer for Thermal Analysis Calibration Standards.
Mettler-Toledo, a major manufacturer in many industries
Mettler-Toledo is not predominantly a manufacturer of Thermal Analysis Test equipment, at least, when we think of MT, we think of other test equipment. Their DSCs are good quality, and very reliable. Their current model series is the “3” and “5” series. Mettler-Toledo USA has ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation for their products. Mettler-Toledo USA is not an ISO 17034:2016 Reference Material Producer for Thermal Analysis Calibration Standards.
Instrument Specialists (now Advanced Measurement Instruments), the USA brand
Instrument Specialists in Twin Lakes, WI was recently purchased by JWGB Instruments, a Chinese based multinational lab equipment manufacturing firm, now called Advanced Measurement Instruments as of the purchase of Instrument Specialists. We have worked well with Instrument Specialist in the past, and found their parts catalogue to be excellent. We look forward to continuing our relationship with them. At the time of this writing, Instrument Specialists does not have any ISO accreditation for their equipment or parts.
